Johnson has lived his entire life satisfying family and friends, but today, these same people keep calling him lazy and block headed. During Johnson's days at the Senior high School, where he had the opportunity of reading the program of his dreams: General Arts, his dad was of the opinion that he reads General Science for he needs a doctor in his house.
Being Daddy's boy, Johnson obliged; letting go of his passion for literature and writing and taking on physics and chemistry that he has no passion for, well not that he had a lot of options though.

Daddy being aware of his son's weakness did his best by enrolling him in one of the best science schools in the country to ensure he gets the best of tuition and training. He also provided him whatever reading material he might need to ensure that his (Daddy) course was a success. But that was never the life Johnson wanted for himself. School has started, grades are being published, Johnson still confused about what he is doing. No matter how hard he tries, things don't seem to be going his way. The grades kept going from bad to worse, and finally he has to give up. He had no passion for the program, and like Einstein said; when there is no passion for knowledge, memory is wasted and whatever is learnt can not be retained.

Daddy, being the society in Johnson's case, will never and can never accept responsibilities for actions he makes for you or influences you to make. A good number of the ideas people persuade us to take are dreams they weren't bold enough to pursue for themselves. These people lived other people's dream and in return, they want others as well to live theirs for them. But it doesn't work that way. We all came into this world with different missions and purposes, don't allow others to define yours for you, you new it right from the time you started breathing. Only you knows you better. Living to satisfy society (people around us) is one of the lamest move we can make. Society existed before you and will keep existing even when you are away, therefore live the life you've being dreaming of, not the one people having being dreaming of.

In our world today; people are bleaching their skins to look more attractive to society, others are reading courses they have no interest in the Universities simply because family and friends told them its mandatory to be a graduate. Some are also in abusive relationships because they fear society will not accept them when they leave to find what they truly love. Society is a dictator who will not accept accept and does not accept responsibilities for actions it makes you take, she will always require you to answer to them.

Why do your live worrying about what people will think? why do you want to put a smile on everyone's face while you keep the tears in yours? Why are you letting go of the one thing you can do best: that is being you, and taking on a life you have no idea about?
Until we grow out from this naivety and crude way of thinking, we will never be satisfied in life. We will continue living lives that people had pre-programmed for us and answering questions to decisions we have no idea about.

The world is a learning stage, and decisions are tests we write everyday. Just as we all don't read the same courses at the Universities and colleges, you don't therefore expect everyone to be chasing the same vision. Hence our questions are not the same. Stick to yours, live the live you want to live and do the things you love to do. Take control of your life and rule your world.

THE PURPOSE OF LOVE

when the power of love supersedes the love of power, the world will know peace

The ability of humans to have control over their fellow humans and resources has transformed our world into what it is now: *chaotic*. For in our quest for control, we trample upon others that we are supposed to love.
That is to say, our love for power makes us forget our first and foremost duty of life: *love*.
But we can change it. We won't be able to do that overnight but we can do that over time. Lets starts with ourselves; lets not allow the love of possessions and 'success' take over our conscience. Take control of your heart and mind, be an instrument of peace and the world will forever be indebted to you.

Live life, don't just own it

It is common now a days to hear people say: 'Its my life so you can't tell me what to do with it .' Of course no one can and no one will also try to do that. But what good is possession if you have no idea how to utilize what you possess.

Today we celebrate Nkrumah, that's perfect. But the real question is will you also be celebrated tomorrow for the life you are living today? If no, then consider your ways.

Live your live such that the usefulness of your liveswill over live your useful life.

 PAIN IS SWEET

No pain no gain.

As the commander of a cadet group, I make my men chant this mantra anytime I want them to endure pain for quite a long of time.
Yes, no pain no gain; this is one of the basic principles of life, for you cannot reap where you did not sow and even the Bible speaks against it. Have you wondered why an athlete will go through a lot of pain in his previous days training but yet comes back to the tracks to train even harder than he did previously, because no pain no gain. How about a woman at labor; despite the many tears she sheds at the ward, she always loves to go back there, because no pain no gain.

People endure pain not for the love of it, but for the rewards that come after it. Therefore do not look at the pain that comes with a task, rather look at the reward thereof. problems are opportunities in work clothes. What you must see as tiring, as too much work or as a threat to your comfort is actually an opportunity that has assumed that form to serve as a screen to select and reward the brave.

Excellent people are men and women who toil at night while their fellows lay in bed. You need to sacrifice your comfort if in deed you need a change. You need to have the eye that is able to see tasks as opportunities and not a painful act.

Chant the mantra: no pain no gain and hold on for a little while, you will feel the change yourself. And trust me, you will love it.

WHY DO WE ALWAYS WANT TO BE EMPLOYED

This has been a question on my mind from the very moment I heard about the graduate unemployment association of Ghana. I have been kept awake when I realized the unemployment rate in Ghana keeps rising year after year with most graduate unable to secure jobs for themselves.

So I asked myself; what is the essence of education? Is it a mechanism developed to make the  lives of people better or worse off? Is it a mechanism geared towards enslaving an individual or to set him or her free? Why aren't we able to think to solve the problems of the world but rather we go and add up to them as graduates?

Education is known to be the process of learning through which skills are developed and faculties trained. It has never being about our ability to read instructions and following suit, but instead, an avenue for acquiring skills and developing our minds. Why then do we have people with good analytical and problem solving skills (graduates) living in a world full of problems and challenges and yet claiming not to be finding any work to do?

This attitude on the path of our graduates has resulted in people pointing accusing fingers at the government and our educational institutions for being so hard on them and providing them with jobs to do, forgetting we are the cause of our own problems. We always want people to hire us for the skills we posses but we do nothing in trying to help solve the problems of our society with these skills of ours without getting hired. We are where we are now as a nation because individuals in the country are more concerned with what the country has to offer them other than what they have to offer it. 

We do not need a change in our educational system,we do not need a change in our governance, but what we need is a change in our thinking. We need to think about ways we can help society become a better place and when we do that, society is going to reward us accordingly. Always think about getting the job done and not on the reward, for so long as your actions and activities benefits society, you always be remembered and rewarded.  

Zuckerberg; founder of Facebook, realized that the world needed a social platform where they can connectwith friends all over the world; an effort geared towards the world a global village. He tried to help, and till today we are all benefiting from his works and he keep receiving his reward for that bold step. Ali Sumaila of www.samaflemfoudation.wordpress.com realized our kids at the basic level of education needed to select their high school programs based on their strength, and is helping with that and will be receiving his rewards till the end of days. Princess Allotey of kidsandmath is also helping our kids at the basic level gain a good math foundation since without that their education journey will be short lived. These are young people who are doing something to change the problems they came to meet in their society. But the amazing part is, they are both students. You need not to be a graduate before you start doing something for yourself and society, you can start now. You have all that that it takes to do that. 

We all have what it takes to make the world exactly how you want it, you don't have to wait to be hired before we do that. Hire yourself, start exactly where you are and with what you have. Until you are able to cease your future by doing something for yourself, you will forever remain enslaved to the ideas of others. Esi Amoako, branch manager at enterprise life, said; when you do what is expected of you you will forever remain a slave but when you do more than that, you are a free man. Desire to be a freeman not a slave. Own your life and your business. 

Remember, business owners are not different from you, they only think different from you. Hence think different to be different.

STILL ON BRANDING 

The branding process is not like preparing indomie instant noodles, it does not happen overnight. Instead, it is a gradual and a continuous process and as such , you need to be constant in your efforts. Make your brand your lifestyle. If you want to be branded as success then be success. This creates a thought pattern in the minds of people where anytime they hear your name, your brand comes in mind and vice versa. For instance brands like Facebook and UT bank brings to mind names like Zuckerberg and Kofi Amoabeng respectively without thinking about it.
Develop , expand and maintain your network. Find a balance between staying connected and building stronger relationships. The two are not the same. Treat your people in your with the needed respect they deserve. This will make them recommend you to others.
Build relationships with like minded people. An eaglet that wants rule the sky does not take pleasure in the company of ducklings.
Monitor your brand. An unmonitored life is an uncontrolled life. Ensure always that people hear, see and understand what you want them to.
Do not prioritize yourself branding over helping people. It won't get you anywhere. Help people to brand yourself.

CHOICES

I could have chosen to live any other life, but i chose to live this life. I could have chosen any other school but i chose to be here. I could have chosen not to carry on and give up, but i chose not to.
Life is full of choices. We might be happy with some of the choices we make, but not always. Sometimes our choices hit us so hard on the face that we might want to cry. Cry, but make sure you don't cry for that same reason anymore.
Humans are not perfect so expect to be wrong in some decisions and choices you make. Never shy away from the consequences of your choices. Real men make decisions and they stand by them. It does not also mean defend your wrong acts, instead accept your wrongs. For they add up to make you complete.

EXCUSES

We most often say; 'everything happen for a reason. Leave it God, He knows why this and that happens,' in order to make us feel okay about a mishap caused by our negligence and misconduct. 

Our actions and inaction are the very things that determines what should happen to us. For instance, to get an F in an exams isn't something that God knows why it should happen but it is because of something we should have done but refused to do or did not sacrifice much of our time for. A great preacher once said; God has given us the brains to think therefore no matter how hard we pray, God is not going to think for us. It is therefore our responsibility to use what God has given us(brains) to make decisions that will lead us into the perfect will and plan of God and not the other way round.

Remember, the brain is the most powerful tool of man, use it right to make things right.

How to create a P. Brand

Branding is an integral part of every individual and as such, it's either you create one for yourself or you are tagged with one. To create a good and a professional brand, one has to first start work on him or herself. You need to change yourself first before you can change anything, and you definitely cannot change something you do not understand. 

So first, understand yourself. Understand your strength and weakness, your mission and vision in this world in order to make them agree with each other. It will enable you build confidence in yourself.

Change any thought pattern that will thwart your goals ( negative thoughts). 

Magnetize yourself to attract the right people into your life. Goal driven people love to associate themselves with persons who will teach them something they do not know, not some one who they won't gain anything from, therefore try to be of value. Have something people need  and you will become irresistible to them. Einstein said; strive to be of value, not of success. Being of value is the best way to becoming magnetized. 

Project a good public a image of yourself. Do away with fear, prejudices and hasty generalization. Lao Tsu said; he who thinks knows everything has a lot to learn. Be willing to learn from anyone and you will forever have their respect. 

Make use of the social media. Portray yourself on each platform the way you want to be seen by the world, that is as professional as you could be. be yourself at all ti,es and never forget to put up a smile always.

Personal Branding 

There is no sound as pleasing to the ears than the sound of ones own name. We spend years at the elementary school learning the right spelling of our names because that is the first step towards self branding. Every social being needs a brand and as such if you fail to consciously construct one for yourself, society will tag you with one. personal branding is simply self selling and like you know, no one buys something (s)he has no trust in. Dress the way you want o be addressed and talk the way you want to be talked to. have a principle you stand with no matter the circumstance and a God you believe in. Make the difference in this new month. set the pace to being different and you will be different.

GIVE IT A TRY.

More often than not I hear people say, ' its too high for me to achieve', I will be laughed at when I don't succeed' and a whole lot. Friends, success is not an end in itself but our attitude towards challenges as they come is the most important thing. Yaa Asantewaa as we know did not win the war of 1900, but we always remember her bravery. Charles Babbage didn't succeed in building the modern computer but we always remember his intellect. Nkrumah didn't achieve African Unity but we remember his efforts. Mosses didn't lead the Israelites to the promised land but he initiated the exodus. The list could go on and on but the important thing here is, these people did not sit on their ideas and believes , instead, they did something with them. They gave it the try and none of them is ever referred to as a failure.
Our late President, J.E Mills, said virtue is not in the success but in the struggle. Assuming you are not promised of tomorrow ( of course no one is), what will you be remembered for? Remember the world rewards efforts not ideas nor believes. As such, do the thing you believe today and the world will forever remember you. Know that you need not a 100% guarantee of success before you take an action, for there will always be a ' what if.'
Get a plan, believe the plan, work the plan, take actions and your efforts will surely not go unrewarded.
